DESCRIPTION: ProFaux's
ProSandstone Spatula Base is an innovative acrylic multiple
effect decorative coating, used for stone texturing and
stone blocking. Mimic the wonderful simplicity of sandstone
and other stone/plaster finished with this unique micro-sphere
product. Apply with steel spatulas or trowel at packaging
consistency. Tintable. Thins with water or latex paint.
Finish troweling creates unique "worm tracks"
which are intensified with Stonewash Pigments or Open-Time
Glaze application. Washable (once waxed with any of the
ProFaux Acrylic Varnish, Glaze or Wax products are applied),
scruff resistant and without smell of solvents. Used for
interior residential and commercial decoration.
GENERAL:
Over absorbent surfaces, use latex sealer. On old paint,
remove loose paint, fill and prime. On wood, metal and
concrete, use recommended sealer. For best coverage, work
over flat latex paint primer that has been tinted to approximate
color of ProFaux Sandstone Spatula Color (generally white
or pastel). Prepare surface with a full coat of ProFaux
Sandstone Roll-up, float flat, and allow 2 hours to dry.
Tape out blocks with ¼" or ½"
masking tape. (For irregular joint, apply oversized tape
and cut or tear edges to be irregular.) Apply ProFaux
Sandstone Spatula over the whole surface, leaving some
lower areas here and there giving the effect of relief.
Add fine textures by burnishing with plastic float while
still damp. You can reactivate ProFaux Sandstone Spatula
with a water-filled spray bottle.*Always seal exterior
application water-based or solvent-based varnish.
Color Sandstone
finish with two easy methods:
Method 1 - Stain with the
ProFaux Stonewash Pigments using watery washes and cellulose
sponges. Let dry 20 minutes to overnight. To protect Stonewash
pigments, roll on a full coat of ProFaux Acrylic Zero
Gloss Varnish.
Method 2 - Mix a coat of
"flat antique acrylic wax". Tint ProFaux Clear
Flat Wax with tiny amount of universal colorant to a tone
a little darker than the background and apply with a 6"
spatula. Polish while still humid using the plastic float.
Remove the tapes to expose the joints. Hint: Help the
overall look by "dirtying" the joint a little
using the edge of the sponge. Also, round off the square
corners of the spatula.
MIXING: Tint with latex
paint of universal colorants. Use the heavy duty ProFaux
Mixer and drill. (This product is too thick to mix color
reliably on a paint shaker).
APPLICATION: May be applied with tools suck as
spatulas and trowels. Coverage 50-125 sq. ft. per gallon.
DRYING TIME: Allow 2 hours
to overnight, depending on film thickness (68 degrees
@ 65% RH).
CLEAN UP & DISPOSAL:
Use hot water for application equipment. Do not dispose
of any product in sewers, waterways or municipal garbage.
Allow waste product to harden before disposal. If liquid
disposal is necessary, contact your local municipality
or paint store for instructions.
NOTE: Non
Combustible. KEEP FROM FREEZING.
