Malachite Technique - Step by Step
1.
Apply green coat. Let Dry.
2. To create Malachite,
making graining tools from stripes of card board cut into
widths from one to five inches. Score through the top layer
of the card board, 1 inch above the bottom edge. Peel the
paper to expose the corrugated layer. Cut irregular spaced
slits along the edge.
3. Mix the dark over glaze
using equal parts black paint, paint conditioner, and glazing
liquid.
Randomly brush the glaze over the green surface.
4. Comb the gain before
the glaze sets. Use the widest tool first to make linear,
wavy, or concentric forms. Use smaller tools to fill in.
5. To soften the edges
of the grain, cut a square of plastic film, hold it near the
surface, then gently blow the film to the surface with out
smudging the glaze. Gently pull the film off the surface.
