Transforms Magazine's Headquarters
The St. Louis headquarters building of the Paint & Decorating
Retailers Association, publisher of The Faux Finisher,
is
receiving a major facelift, courtesy of ProFaux Workshops of
Akron, Ohio. The principals of the company, Greg Frohnapfel
and John Catalanotto, are completing the work, which includes
some of the latest European finishes. In the first phase of
the project, they were assisted by two other faux artists: Lori
Wilson of Golden Artist Colors and Joe Eby of Eby Faux and Decorative
Arts Studio in Omaha, Nebraska. There were various elements
of the initial project, including:
The entranceway, featuring textured pitted bronze metal
on the ceiling, with 23 carat gold leaf on the rims and faux
brick.
The receptionist area, featuring venetian plaster and
two corporate logos. The PDRA logo was done in 23 carat gold
leaf and the "R" in blue lapis, while the logo of
the tenant, Global Solutions, was done in silver leaf.
The waiting area and front hallway both featured textured
finishes. The waiting area was done in Tuscan
Stone, while the hallway features a plaster finish using
Sandstone. The ProFaux team also is doing work in other parts
of the building, including the education/meeting room which
is being completed in wood graining with trompe l'oeil architectural
details, and various effects. Look for photos in upcoming issues.
