it Painted Professionally - Winners
.
A number
of recurring themes within PDCA - professionalism,
image, dedication to craft, keeping up with the latest techniques
(not to mention tremendous marketing opportunities) - all come
together in the annual Picture it Painted Professionally contest.
A highlight of convention week, 16 plaques were awarded to 11
contractors at the annual Awards Luncheon in Anaheim in February.
A video tape featuring a look at all the winning entries was
also shown to appreciative audience.
Sponsored this year solely by PCDA
and open to members and nonmembers alike, the 12-year-old competition
honors the creative and skillful application of paint and coatings
by contractors nationwide. Five categories of entries were judged
by an independent panel of industry representatives on the basis
of use of color, use of specialty paint techniques and unusual
treatments, overall skill and execution. The industrial category
was judged on a slightly different basis
First
Place - Pro Faux Workshops
Interior Commercial
Comments: Utilizing
particleboard and a variety of decorative painting techniques,
including oak graining, Tinos marbleizing, and leather, this conference
table in a busy Ohio advertising firm was transformed into a beautiful
showcase.
Second
Place - Pro Faux Workshops
Interior Residential
Comments: Trompe
L'oeil highlights and shadows were painstakingly added over top
of graining, transforming drywall into three-dimensional woodwork
and perfectly matching the wood grain finish of the prefinished
cherry cabinetry. The second of three wins for Pro Faux.
Honorable
Mention -
Pro Faux Workshops
Arora Residence Great Room
Comments: Careful
execution without obvious repetition of the marbleizing pattern
created an opulent effect on a wooden fireplace and Columns.
