ProFaux - Step-by-Step Technique - Old World JewelStone

Step 1: Skim coat with ProFaux Sandstone Spatula.

Step 2: Crosshatch Sandstone Spatula with trowel.

Step 3: Swirl two thin coats of JewelStone Silver base using a damp cellulose sponge.

Step 4: When dry, apply Open-Time Glaze and Stonewash Pigment emulsion with a damp cellulose sponge. Soften to remove swirl marks.

Step 5: When dry, skip trowel 60% of area with Sandstone Spatula.

Step 6: When dry, reapply OpenTime emulsion in same manner. Burnish for added depth and interest.

Old World JewelStone™
Give an old technique a new lift with a little help from JewelStone! This is an easy to-do finish for contractors with little decorative finishing experience. With basic troweling and staining techniques you can master this high-end finish for your most demanding clients. Its old world charm is achieved with its broken pattern and natural umber coloration. The JewelStone contributes a subtle yet contemporary flair by adding a silvery undertone. The JewelStone also isolates the first layer, separating it from the final layers, giving you a truly unique finish!

Materials List:
• ProSandstone™ Spatula Base
• Stainless Steel Trowel
• Blue Steel Spatulas
• JewelStone™ Silver Base
• ProFaux Stonewash Pigments
- Natural Umber
• ProFaux OpenTime Glaze™
• Bucket
• Cellulose Sponge

Application Method:
Prime bare surfaces with ProFaux’s Diamond Tooth Primer
1. Skimcoat surface with ProSandstone Spatula Base.
2. Crosshatch ProSandstone Spatula onto surface, using a trowel or Blue Steel Spatulas to apply. Allow surface to dry.
3. Crosshatch Sandstone Spatula with trowel.
4. Swirl two thin coats of JewelStone Silver Base using a damp cellulose sponge.
5. When dry, apply Open-Time Glaze and Stonewash Pigment emulsion with a damp cellulose sponge. Soften to remove swirl marks.
6. When dry, skip trowel 60% of area with ProSandstone Spatula.
7. When dry, reapply OpenTime emulsion in same manner. Burnish for added depth and interest.

Variations on a theme. Create numerous color combinations with any of our ProFaux Stonewash Pigments.

Application: Thickness does affect the Pro-Venetian Base products. Thicker applications will take longer to dry and may reveal cracking. May be applied with tools such as a spatula and trowel. Coverage: Varies widely depending upon application method: 75-175 sq.ft. per gallon.

Drying Time: Allow 2 hours to overnight, depending on film thickness (68 degrees @ 65% RH).

Clean Up & Disposal: Use hot water for application equipment. Do not dispose of any product in sewers, waterways or municipal garbage. Allow waste product to harden before disposal. If liquid disposal is necessary, contact your local municipality or paint store for instructions.
