Application
Method:
1. Prime the wall surface with acrylic or oil
based flat primer sealer. No additional prep or sealing
coats are required.
2. Mix desired color with Pro-Venetian
Neutral Base
(Neutral Base gallons can be tinted and stirred
using a Pro
Faux Mixer
and power drill. i.e. The paint store can dispense
colorant for you but their shakers will not mix
the thick Spatula Base products adequately.
3. Use two clean Blue
Steel Spatulas
to patch out the panel (One to hold the material
and the other to apply it.) Remember to use the
spatula with the convex side down. Lay the material
down at 25 degrees and remove excess at 45 degrees.
4.
Apply the outside areas first randomly. Use a longer
"key" first, leaving room to fill in later
with a shorter "locking key", thus tying
things together.
Fill in the center by patching out the whole area.
Go back and complete the missed areas with overlapping
patches.
5. Lay down more at low angles making sure
you knock down the nibs along the way. This is known
as "feathering". Finally, thin the BASE
with a little water and "veneer" the surface
using the crosshatch method.
6. Burnish to the desired sheen by dragging
the spatula lightly in a figure 8 pattern.
7. Apply Acrylic
Clear Satin Wax in patchwork fashion for waterproofing
and abrasion resistance.
Variations on
a theme.
Create subtle color variations by experimenting
with various colorants, other Pro Venetian bases
and concentration. The sheen can be controlled by
the burnishing process. Pro Faux Waxes can add even
more effects.
